Welcome back to Technique Tuesday! This month we’re all showing some different die cutting techniques. With the new Stampin’ Die Cut and Emboss Machine AND the new Mini Machine now available, there’s never been a better time to start die cutting for your projects.
My technique is die cut inlays. I’ll walk you through the process, but it’s a great way to add texture and dimension to a project without making it too thick, or to mix and match dies onto a project easily. First here’s a look at the finished card…
To make the background and start building up the layers, first you’ll die cut a bunch of shapes out of your main card layer.
Adhere this layer to another layer of card stock. Don’t forget about those little ‘islands’ that may get lost.
Once you’ve removed the actual shapes you die cut, you’ll be left with these voids. (See how the little island got glued on and isn’t left off?)
Now you’re going to die cut some more shapes in a variety of colors…
And you can start filling in the voids!
Once you’ve glued down the first ‘layer’ of pieces, you can die cut another set if you’d like.
Once again you’ll layer onto a card stock layer once the pieces are cut out.
Then fill in the voids and trim off all the overhanging pieces!
Now start layering more die cuts, labels, and embellishments onto your card.
And here’s the final result!
And don’t forget to decorate the inside!
Now go take a look at what everyone else has made, I know I’ve learned a lot from these posts!
