Welcome to another Technique Tuesday blog hop from Crafty Collaborations! This month we’re all about inks. With a line up of inks in 52 colors and several different ink types from alcohol markers to water based dye ink pads to creamy craft ink, there’s so many different ink techniques, and I hope you find these posts educational and inspiring!
My project features the Classic Stampin’ Pads, though you could achieve the same effect with markers or ink refills as well. I made these watercolor wash backgrounds using a water painter (here I used the widest one) and a rainbow of colors from different families. When doing watercolor washes you can either do a wet ink on wet paper or a wet ink on dry paper technique. To keep better division between my colors, I did wet on dry here. Once the wash was how I wanted it and dry, I dropped splashes of water and Wink of Stella on to give the background dimension and glitz!
Now to turn these pieces into cards, I didn’t want to obscure or distract from the background too much, so I simply layers them up and Added some die cut and punched shapes with sentiments from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set.
For the detailed die cuts, I made my life much easier by adding an adhesive sheet to the back of my cardstock before die cutting. Not only does this make it easier to ‘weed’ out the tiny pieces, but it’s a breeze to adhere them then too!
Here’s another look at all three cards and the different color spectrums I used.
