One of the things I do a lot of is make A LOT of cards at once. Whether it’s for my monthly birthday list, thank you cards for customers, or swap cards for events, I often make 10, 20, or even 40 of the same card! So I thought I would share my tips and tricks with you here…
- The first step is the design. Yes the finished card matters! Consider your steps and how easy they are to duplicate and produce in the quantities you need. For example, if you’re using a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of designer series paper, you’re only going to be able to get 6 pieces from each 12″ x 12″ sheet. Dies are also time an energy consuming, punches are a much easier way to mass produce! Here’s the design I’ll be making today in a few different colors and sentiments.
- Score, cut, and fold all your card bases. It’s easiest to score then cut because you can score once for two standard card bases! You can also do any stamping onto your card base at this point. Here I actually just used extra card bases I had laying around, so I don’t necessarily have all the same color.
- Cut and stamp all your sentiment layers. I use the Stamparatus to make life sooooo much easier. Rather than line up each sentiment each time, I can punch out multiple shapes, then stamp a few sentiments at once (one of the main reasons not all my cards have the same sentiment in this set).
- Cut and emboss any embossed layers. I couldn’t not use the Die Cut and Emboss Machine, I love it too much, but vellum can easily be embossed two pieces at a time, so I saved time there too!
- Tie all your bows and adhere them to glue dots. Straight forward right? So much easier to do all at once than piece by piece.
- OK, we’re ready to assemble now! Have all your pieces laid out and ready to go…
- Adhere your sentiments onto your vellum piece all in one go, stick with doing one task at a time!
- Liquid glue is much faster and more forgiving than tape runners. If you can, just keep it uncapped in a container on your desk, then it’s at hand and ready to go and you have an easy place to drop it in between uses. This is how we’ll adhere the vellum to the card base so that the glue doesn’t show through.
- The piercing end of the Take Your Pick Tool works great to adhere your bows! Just pick up the glue dot, roll it under the knot, and place your bow on your card!
- The putty end of the Take Your Pick Tool is perfect for picking up and adhering pearls and rhinestones exactly where you want them.
- Last but not least, save yourself a hand cramp by pre-printing sticky notes or copy paper for the inside of cards that need a message. These are the sticky notes I’ve been using (from Vista Print) but you could have even more pre-printed on them to save you writing!
