As a continuation of my #StampingDiversity challenge, I wish you a happy World Braille Day! I was lucky enough as a youth to spend some time learning about Braille from a blind friend of my mom’s. He taught me about how he navigates life (and would often point out that he wasn’t ‘visually impaired’ he was ‘freaking blind’) and as a voracious reader myself I was particularly intrigued by how he read, wrote, and navigated the sighted world with the help of Braille.
So I created this card in his honour. It’s a small card, just 4″ x 3″ but features several different textures for both visual and non-visual interest. I also used pearl to spell out the word “happy” on the front. I would like to actually send this card to someone, but I have to track down a Braille writer so that I can type a note on the inside!
